A former member of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galícia in Spain, Chung-Mei Chang is a graduate of Boston University, where she studied with Peter Zazofsky and the Muir String Quartet. Among the festivals she has been honored to attend while in school are Tanglewood Music Center, Taos School of Music with the American String Quartet and Music by the Red Sea, under the direction of Lorin Maazel.
Besides being a new member of the Long Beach Symphony, Mei is also assistant concertmaster of The Riverside Philharmonic. She‘s a substitute musician with the Pasadena and Santa Barbara Symphonies, as well as the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra. In the summers, she plays with the Sunriver Music Festival Orchestra in Oregon and the Pasadena Pops Orchestra.
Mei was born in Taiwan and grew up in São Paulo, Brazil.
