Ernest Ehrhardt
Cello

My professional career began as the youngest cellist hired with the Houston Symphony under the direction of Sir John Barbirolli and Andre Previn. The youngest cellist hired with the L.A. Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta.  I also have served principal with the Tulsa Philharmonic at which time I taught at the Oral Roberts University and University of Tulsa and was a member of the Tulsa Philharmonic Quartet.  I have been principal with the American Ballet Theater and the Jeoffrey Ballet for 10 years each. I had the honor of auditioning and serving as the sole and last cellist for the Lawrence Welk show.

I have been principal with the Long Beach Symphony for 20 years and co-principal for 20 years. I am also currently principal with the Pasadena Pops Orchestra and have been with the orchestra since its conception. I am also principal with the Santa Monica Symphony.

I have done many T.V. shows including all the shows orchestrated by David Rose, many movies and many stage shows.  I have also done numerous recordings with many entertainers such as Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Dolly Parton, Madonna, Michael Jackson, the 3 Tenors and Sting to name a few.

I have also had the honor of playing for five presidents of the United States.

I reside in Burbank with my wife, Maureen and the love of my life my dog Maxine.  We were blessed to purchase the home once owned by the arranger of Liberace. The house has touches of Liberace including a piano shaped swimming pool with a piano keyboard fence and wrought iron railings with musical notes leading to the back yard. A perfect home for a musician.

My hobbies and what I love most: MUSIC and CELLOS and STRING QUARTETS!
