University of Southern California.
What inspired you to start playing music?
My father was a big band era sax player.
Why did you choose your principal instrument?
I always wanted to play the bass since I was old enough to talk.
When did you start playing with the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra (what year)?
1972.
With what other orchestras do you perform?
Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, New West, Santa Barbara Symphony and Pasadena Pops.
Have you performed for any of the following, and if so, who or what?
Film: Alladin, Groundhog Day, Flintstones, Thomas Crowne Affair, Jingle All the Way, Anatasia, Ice Age and Scooby Doo, 102 Dalmations.
Touring Artists: Mantovaní, Yanni.
Who is your favorite composer?
John Adams.
Why?
I think his music reflects the heartbeat of modern life.
What is your favorite orchestral work?
Harmonielehre by John Adams.
Why?
I think its the best of John Adams & minimalism.
What do you enjoy doing besides music? (hobbies, etc.)
Traveling, especially by train.
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Garlic.
