Lynda Sue Marks
Percussion

Since 1973 Lynda Sue has been Principal Percussion for the Long Beach Symphony. She was percussionist and soprano soloist for the Long Beach Municipal Band for six years, sang at the Zürich Opera House, performed the mallet work in the Ice Capades and Ice Follies in Long Beach, Los Angeles and New York, performed as percussionist in the Radio City Music Hall as well as sang on stage during their Easter Show. Her soprano solos have been recorded for films and television “Bird On a Wire”, “Outlaws”, “Wolf”, “Anything But Love”, and “Amazing Stories”. 

 She was commissioned to create “Percussion Paints Pictures” for the L.B. Elementary schools and a Percussion Showcase for the Middle Schools. She was a featured speaker at the Pre-concert lectures during the Falletta years and created programs for pre-concert lectures.  

Lynda Sue has appeared as soloist with the LBSO:

  • 1969 Featured soprano soloist in final ‘69/’70 LBSO season.
  • 1975 -January Concert sang “Merry Widow” excerpts with  husband, John Guarnieri, Tenor and John  Hyer, Tenor (then Executive Director of LBSO), and Laura Killingsworth, Soprano (former President of the LBSO Board).
  • 1975 -April 12 Alberto Bolet Conductor in   Faure “Requiem” Soprano Solo. Roger Wilkie’s father, Earl, was the Baritone soloist.
  • 1978 August LBSO   SUMMER STARLIGHT CONCERT – Soprano Solo Bachianas Braselieras #5    and “Romance” from Desert Song.
  • 1995 March 2 Keith Brion Conductor - in xylophone solos for SOUSA at the POPS.
  • 2005 June 4 Michael Krajewski  as POPS Conductor featured her as soprano, singing “Quando m’en Vo, and performing a xylophone solo “Hora Staccato”.  
  • 2006 February 4  Mini-demo of Revueltas percussion at MoLAA – solo on Marimba “Tico-Tico”.
